Valledupar by Bus

To Pueblo Bello & Nabusimake

There is only one bus/jeep per day that makes scheduled trips to Pueblo Bello and it leaves at 5AM.  The pick-up location is at Cra 7a No 18b 37 (See Map)  The trip to Pueblo Bello will take a little over an hour up a poorly mountain road that ascends to over 4000 feet.  This trip will cost you 10.000 COP.

If you wish to proceed from Pueblo Bello to Nabusimake, make your way to the Centro Transporte, located across from the Hotel Encanta.  The 4x4 vehicles will not depart until 8AM (T,Th,S,Su) or 9:30AM (M,W,F) but as there is limited space in these vehicles, you will want to make your way over immediately upon arrival and put your name on the list as these vehicles can fill up.  The trip to Nabusimake should cost 13.000 COP, and will likely take 3 hours, in which you will be packed like a sardine as the jeep traverses an unpaved mountainous trail.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is only one scheduled vehicle which leaves Nabusimake each afternoon, and it will not wait for you.  You will want at the entrance on the main road at 2:15PM.  Nabusimake does not have hotels and it is a 5 hour hike back to Pueblo Bello.

To La Mina & Maruamake

From the Galleria Popular (See Map) you can catch a public vehicle at 11AM for the 45 minute trip up to La Mina.  This trip will run you 6.500 COP.  If you plan to visit Maruamake, request the driver take you on to Guatamuri (2.000 COP more) where you can spend the night to catch a ride to Maruamake in the morning.  While there are no scheduled public transit returns to Valledupar from La Mina and Maruamake, numerous vehicles will be making the trip and it is relatively easy to hitch hike back.

Door to Door Service Shuttles

Door to door shuttle services are available to destinations in Santa Marta, Cartagena, Barranquilla, Riohacha, and Mompox.  These are private vans that will pick you up at your hotel, and drop you off at your destination.  Your hotel should be able to arrange these services for you if you so desire.

Valledupar Bus Terminal

The Valledupar Bus Terminal is located to the South of the city at Cra 7a No. 45 (See Map).  Here you can catch buses to major destinations around the country.

It is not uncommon to pay up to 40% off the listed price for bus transportation around Colombia.  Be willing to haggle on price.
